Aqua Medic filters to combat aquatic water pollutants

Nitratreductor 400

A filter for reducing the nitrate concentration in aquaria up to 400 litres.

The Nitratreductor 400 is a completely sealed biological filter. It is operated at a very low flow rate so that an oxygen free environment is created wherein naturally occurring bacteria reduce nitrate to harmless nitrogen gas.

The filter can be installed in almost any position, inside or outside the aquarium or the cabinet. For the water flow, we recommend the Dosing pump SP 3000. After maturing the filter can keep the nitrate concentration in a normally loaded aquarium up to 400 litres at a very low level. The filter medium – Deniballs – is consumed and will require replacement in 9 to 12 months dependant on load. For optimum control we recommend the filter be used in conjunction with an Aqua Medic mV controller or an Aqua Medic mV computer.

The filter is already equipped to accept our pressurised electrode.

Dimensions (without electrode): 14.4 x 10 x 37 cm (5.8”x 4” x 14.5”)

Accessories:

  • Denimar powder and deniballs to feed the anaerobic bacteria
  • Pressure proof Redox (ORP) probe with screw connection PG13.5
  • Dosing pump SP 3000

Nitratreductor 1000

Denitrifikation filter for aquariums up to 1000 litres (250 Gallons)

The Nitratreductor 1000 is an anaerobic biological reactor for removing nitrates from marine and freshwater aquaria. It has a large volume of 10l (4.5 gals) and an internal circulation pump.

The Nitratereductor 1000 works with a flow rate of 1 to 4 l/hr (0.25 to 1 gph). In the absence of oxygen this situation promotes bacteria that metabolize nitrate. Denimar powder or Deniballs are used as an organic energy source.

To monitor this process, it is possible to use a redox potential controller (ORP controller) in conjunction with an electrode inserted in the inbuilt PG13.5 port.

The Nitratereductor 1000 is a closed unit that can be integrated into filter systems, but may also be installed to stand alone under the aquarium.

Now including Dosing Pump SP 3000 for controlled water flow.

Dimensions excluding electrode (l x w x h): 17 x 17 x 54 cm (7" x 7" x 22")

Accessories:

Denimar powder and Deniballs to feed the anaerobic bacteria

Aqua Medic mV Controller or Aqua Medic mV Computer c/w pressure resistant mV (Redox or ORP) probe with PG 13.5 threaded connection

Deniballs

A filter material and bacterium food for the Nitratereductor

Deniballs are made from a special biologically based plastic material. In the absence of oxygen, anaerobic bacteria metabolize this material. The bacteria are used for the reduction of nitrates - reducing nitrate to nitrogen gas.

One to three Pyramid packages of 0.8 litres (0.2 gal) each is enough to supply the Nitratreductor as the sole food source for 12 months.

For the Nitratreductor 5000, about 5 litres (1.3 gallons) are required.

Changing the Deniballs after approximately 12 months is recommended to ensure safe and maintenance free denitrification in fresh and salt water aquaria.

0.8 litre (0.2 gal) pyramid box

5 litre (1.3 gal) bucket

15 litre (3.9 gal) bucket

25 litre (6.2 gal) box

Denimar

Nutrient powder for the Nitratreductor.

The bacteria within an anaerobic biofilter need organic nutrients as their energy source to remove nitrate. Denimar contains organic substances which dissolve slowly in water and are taken up by the bacteria.

If Denimar is dosed daily, high nitrate removal rates can be achieved in the Nitratereductor.

Denimar is suited for salt and fresh water aquaria. It contains no fertilizers and does not foster the growth of algaes.

Phosphatfilter

Bypass filter for the elimination of phosphate

The phosphatefilter is a compact chemical filtration chamber for aquarium use. It can be installed in line with any standard canister filter or via a separate pump.

The phosphate filter contains 1 litre of antiphos which reduces the level of phosphate and thereby curtails the growth of filamentous algae. Depending on the phosphate level, one filling of antiphos may be sufficient for an aquarium up to 400 litres (100 gallons) for between four and twelve weeks. The phosphatfilter can be used for fresh and salt water aquaria. Diameter 80 mm (c. 3.2") Length 35.5 cm (c. 14") Hose connection 16 mm (2/3")

Kalkreaktor 400

A reactor to supply dissolved calcium and calcium bicarbonate ions to reef aquaria up to 400 litres (c.100 gal)

The Calciumreactor 400 is a completely sealed system operating at a very low flow rate. Within the reactor calcium and calcium bicarbonate ions are release by the controlled dosing of CO2 gas. This provides the calcium hydrocarbonate that hard coral require to build their exoskeletons.

The filter can be installed in almost any position, inside or outside the aquarium or the cabinet. For the water flow, we recommend the Dosing pump SP 3000. The reactor is filled with Hydrocarbonate – a pure form of calcium carbonate with an extremely low phosphate level. For optimum control and the most economic use of the CO2 gas, we recommend the reactor be used in conjunction with an Aqua Medic pH controller. The reactor is already equipped to accept our pressurised electrode.

Kalkreactor 1000

For the supply of dissolved calcium to marine aquaria up to 1000 litres (250 gallons)

The Calciumreactor is a closed system designed for universal use. It can be operated on a bypass system, independent of the water level in the aquarium, or alternatively be installed in the filter sump. It includes a large volume (10 litres or 2.5 gallons) of Hydrocarbonate and an integrated circulation pump that features the patented Aqua Medic needle wheel. By adding CO2, the pH value in the Calciumreactor falls and the Hydrocarbonate is dissolved. Even with a low flow rate of 1 to 4 l/hr (0.25 to 1 gph), a large amount of dissolved calcium enters into the aquarium, which is assimilated by the animals.

The Calciumreactor has an integral port to accommodate a PG 13.5 threaded electrode to measure the pH value. Now including Dosing Pump SP 3000 for controlled water flow.

Dimensions - without electrode (l x w x h): 17 x 17 x 54 cm (7" x 7" x 22")

Accessories:

Aqua Medic CO2 complet for CO2 supply. Aqua Medic pH Computer or Aqua Medic pH Controller c/w pressure resistant pH probe with PG13.5 threaded connection

Carbolitreactor

Bypass filter for activated carbon

The carbolitreactor is a compact chemical filtration chamber for aquarium use. It can be installed in line with any standard canister filter or used with a separate pump.

The carbolitreactor contains one litre of pH neutral carbolit. The carbolitreactor can be used for fresh and salt water aquaria. One filling lasts, depending on the load and use, for between 10 days (for removal of medications) to up to 12 months (for long term use as biological filter) in a 400 litre (100 gallon) aquarium.

Diameter 80 mm (3.2") Length 35.5 cm (14")

Hose connection 16 mm (2/3")

Kalkwasserreaktor

Production of Kalkwasser, for salt water aquaria up to 2000l volume

The Kalkwasserreactor is a sealed unit designed to supply reef aquariums with Calcium by enriching the fresh water top up supply. It uses the Kalkwasser-method and is filled with Calcium hydroxide, which is intermittently agitated by a pump. It is possible to automate the system by combining an automatic level controller such as the ab aquaniveau single with the Aqua Medic Kalkwasserreactor. The reactor is designed to accommodate a pH electrode to control the quality of the kalkwasser. An additional advantage of this method is, that phosphate is removed from the top up and the aquarium water.

Dimensions: 17 x 17 x 54 cm ( L x B x H), 7" x 7" x 22" ( L x W x H)

Plankton light reactor

Cultivation unit for Phytoplankton (Microalgae)

The plankton light reactor is a simple system for the production of plankton in a natural food chain. In the plankton light reactor, microalgae are produced with light, fertiliser and CO2. The microalgae can be fed directly to many filter-feeding invertebrates, and especially to zooplankton. The growth rate of the microalgae in the plankton light reactor is enormous. If the supply of light, CO2 and nutrients is continuous, the bio-mass of the algae may increase four-fold within 24 hours. Fresh and salt water species of phytoplankton can be cultivated.

Contents: plankton light reactor, approx 2.5l (0.65 gal) volume, wall bracket air pump connections, lighting unit with fluorescent lamp (18W), special reflector and fixing clamps.

Diameter: 80 mm (3.2") Length: 80 cm (32")

Plankton reactor

Cultivation unit for Zooplankton

Many species of zooplankton of both salt and fresh water species can be cultivated in the plankton reactor. The zooplankton is fed with microalgae from the plankton light reactor. The zooplankton has a great growth potential: under optimal algal nutrition, the number of rotifers (Brachionus) may double over four days. Brachionus is the ideal food for raising many marine fish larvae and invertebrates in salt water aquaria

Aqua Medic CO2-set basic

The CO2-Set basic comprises the steel bottle station with 350 or 500g CO2, the pressure regulator and the bubble counter.

It is the ideal set for combinations with calcium reactors, or other applications where no CO2-reactor is needed

The bubble counter is a simple and safe unit for monitoring the dosage of CO2 gas into aquaria. It should be installed in the low pressure part of the gas delivery circuit. An integrated non return valve prevents water flow back and a robust holding plate enables easy fixing to the outside of the aquarium.

The bubble counter provides a simple and reliable visual indication of CO2 gas flow. It should be installed in the low pressure part of the gas delivery circuit. It includes an integral non return valve and is easily fixed to the outside of the aquarium using the suction cups provided.

The station is a steel CO2 storage bottle with an external shut off valve. It is available in three sizes: 350 g, 500 g and 2 kg (c. 0.77 lb. 1.1 lb. and 4.4 lb.) All the cylinders are supplied with a safety cage and the 2 kg size has a stand base.

Turboflotor 750

The Turboflotor 750 is a compact, motor driven internal protein skimmer.

A large volume mechanical pre-filter is attached to the pump. The 10-watt venturi pump, with needle wheel, automatically draws in air and mixes it with the aquarium water. The resulting air/water mixture is forced into the reaction cylinder (75 mm, 3 inch diameter).

An expansion cone with a post-filter is attached the lower end of the cylinder. The foam cup inner tube is conical shaped to improve the ejection of foam. The strong holding system allows safe fastening of, and adjustments to, the skimmer whilst it is mounted in the aquarium.

Diameter: 75 mm, c. 3"

Length: 55 cm, c. 22"

Total width: 15 cm, c. 6"
